The Funding Roadmap

A strategic, evaluator-led assessment that identifies, prioritises and sequences the most suitable grant, loan and non-dilutive funding opportunities available to your business over the short to medium term.

What it is

Not a grant list. A funding strategy.

Rather than simply providing a list of available grants, the Funding Roadmap takes a strategic and evaluator-led approach. We assess your business, its current stage of development, growth plans, financial position, previous funding history, and upcoming priorities across areas such as capital investment, innovation, digitalisation, sustainability, hiring, and export growth.

From there, we identify which funding routes are genuinely suitable, realistic, and defensible — not just technically available.

The assessment

We assess your business the way evaluators do.

A structured diagnostic across the inputs that determine eligibility, intervention rate, and approval likelihood.

  • Business stage and history
  • Sector, growth plans and strategic priorities
  • Financial position and accounting structure
  • Previous funding history (state aid, de minimis, prior grants)
  • Capital investment plans
  • Innovation and R&D pipeline
  • Digitalisation roadmap
  • Sustainability and decarbonisation plans
  • Hiring and skills priorities
  • Export and internationalisation goals
The filter

Each opportunity is tested against six evaluator lenses.

It's not enough for a scheme to look relevant. It has to survive the same scrutiny it will receive on the other side of an evaluator's desk.

01

Eligibility

Company size, sector, age, location, ownership structure, employee thresholds and state-aid status.

02

Funding rates

Realistic intervention rates by scheme, region and project type — not headline maximums.

03

Eligible expenditure

What can and cannot be claimed — capex vs. opex, salaries, subcontractors, overheads, VAT treatment.

04

Timelines

Call windows, decision lead times and earliest credible draw-down dates.

05

Application requirements

Mandatory documentation, financial evidence, quotes, supporting strategy work.

06

Risks & rejection patterns

The recurring reasons applications are rejected, scaled back, or clawed back.

Readiness gaps

We surface what needs to be true before an application is submitted.

A key part of the process is identifying any readiness gaps that may need to be addressed before an application is made. We tell you what to fix, in what order, and why it matters to evaluators.

  • Strengthening the business plan or strategic narrative
  • Developing or upgrading financial projections
  • Completing market validation or customer evidence
  • Preparing sustainability or digitalisation strategies
  • Improving supporting documentation (quotes, CVs, governance)
  • Aligning prior state-aid records and de minimis ceilings
The final output

A practical, phased funding roadmap.

The Funding Roadmap is the artefact your leadership team uses to make funding decisions for the next 12–24 months. It sets out:

  1. 01Which funding opportunities should be prioritised
  2. 02Which supports should be deferred or discounted
  3. 03What preparatory work should begin immediately
  4. 04How applications should be sequenced to avoid wasted effort or funding conflicts
  5. 05The most logical next steps for grant or loan application support

What you receive

  • A written Funding Roadmap document, tailored to your business
  • Prioritised shortlist of grants, loans and non-dilutive supports
  • Application sequencing plan with timelines and dependencies
  • Readiness gap register and recommended preparatory work
  • A working session with your management team to walk through the plan
The Funding Roadmap is typically the first step before progressing to full grant or loan application support — giving management a clear, evidence-based plan before committing time and resources to individual applications.
